Chignahuapan cuenta con bosques de coníferas templado con asociaciones boscosas de pino-encino, oyamel y vegetación arbustivas. Además de contar con cuencas parciales de los ríos que desembocan en el Golfo de México, así como algunos arroyos que desembocan en lagunas del estado de Tlaxcala.
Es por este tipo de ecosistema, que al visitar este pueblo mágico es muy común encontrar demasiados mosquitos y mariposas nocturnas. Dentro de los bosques podemos encontrar también roedores y castores.
En estos bosques, la flora se caracteriza por contar con especies tales como ocote, trompillo, pino de patula, pino de lacio, aile, madroño, encino, tesmilillo, jarilla, pino chino, laurelillo y oyamel.
Se encuentran dispersos por todo el territorio aunque destacan por su extensión, los localizados en el conjunto montañosos del cerro las Tablas y en la sierra que cruza el oriente.

Chignahuapan counts with tempered coniferous forests that have forested associations of pine-oak, oyamel and shrubby vegetations. Also it counts with partial watersheds of the rivers that lead into the Golfo de México, as well as some streams that lead into lagoons of Tlaxcala.
Is because this kind of ecosystem, that when you visit this pueblo mágico, it is really common to find many mosquitoes and nocturn butterflies. Inside the forests we can also find rodents and beavers.
In these forests, the flora is characterized with some species like the ocote, trompillo, patula’s pine, lacio’s pine, aile, madroño, oak, tesimilillo, jarilla, chinese pine, laurelillo and oyamel
You can find them scattered in all the territory, although, the ones that are remarkable because of their extension are located in the mountainous set of the Tabla’s hill and in the mountain range that crosses the east.
